So are you looking to start playing beginner electric guitar, and you want to know which brands are going to be the best for your style? There are hundreds of guitar brands that exist out there. However, only a few of them are noteworthy. In this post we will briefly go over the more popular guitar brands and help you make an informed choice when it comes to purchasing!

So with out further ado, here are some of the best brands for beginner electric guitar models, and the pros and cons for each of them!

#1. Fender. Everyone has heard this name before, sort of like the Beatles of the guitar world, the Fender is immensely popular and well known. And for good reason, the creamier than milk tone that this bad boy produces is enough to make angels weep! This is recommended for beginner to intermediate guitar players.

#2. Ibanez. This is a brand that is well known for both their electric basses and guitars. Started in 1978, this brand of guitar has been an industry leader since the era of the glam band. The outrageous power and beautiful tone this guitar puts out makes it a tasty choice for guitar players of all levels!

#3. Gibson. Popular for their acoustic guitars mostly, the Gibson also puts out a mean electric guitar. The Gibson Les Paul is one of the most popular beginner electric guitar brands of all time. It has also been played by rock stars, so don’t think that it’s just for novices! These may be a bit costly, but well worth the few extra bucks!

#4. Washburn. The Washburn is a little less known brand but not “washed up” by any means. It is known in inner guitar circles as having a great finger board and playability that makes it a rival for even the most popular brands! This may be a good choice, but there are probably better options out there!

#5. Yamaha. The Yamaha would probably be known as the old geezer of this group, the company was founded in the early 1800′s and has been running strong ever since. This brand is well known and loved by musicians all over the world. The playability is nice, and the action is just perfect for the starry-eyed newbie wanting to make waves in the rock world.

#6. Fender. The maker of the almighty Stratocaster, this is probably the guitar most people drool over and have visions of dancing through their heads when they are dreaming. It is the guitar that the bonafide rock legends use to mesmerize the masses and blast out ears with thunderous riffs that Zeus himself couldn’t even play! Needless to say, a solid choice!

A beginner electric guitar can be a great way to start becoming a serious musician. Every one has to start somewhere, so don’t fret if you are new, just learn to play that fret! We hope you enjoyed this post, good luck!

Everyone is born with their own specific talent. Not everyone is able to pick up an instrument and play like it was their job. For most people, it takes years and years of practice to perfect the skill. Many give up way before they get to this point. If you want to play the guitar fast, easy and efficiently then keep reading!

The guitar is thought of by many as the most rewarding, inexpensive (depending on the guitar you buy), and mobile instrument to learn. The fact that you are able to play your guitar just about anywhere is a great advantage.

Many popular guitarists have admitted that playing the guitar as well as they do has been a lifelong commitment, but probably one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself. The guitar is almost like an extension of your body. Being able to express yourself through the music you make is just magical.

Below are some simple steps that will help you to play the guitar – fast, easy and efficiently.

Step one.
You must first decide on what type of guitar you want to play. There are two basic types of guitars. Acoustic and electric. Depending on the type of music you want to play will help you decide on the style of guitar. If you are into heavier music then the electric will probably suit your needs more, whereas if you are more into pop/softer rock, then the acoustic is a great choice. The acoustic is usually a more popular choice for beginners, although the electric is thought to be easier to play.

Step two.
Get yourself books and charts that will help you to learn your chords and notes. If you don’t have the means to go to a book or music store to buy these you can search around online. There are many sites on the internet that are great tools to help you learn to play the guitar. There are many resources that you can find with free information. Look for sites that have visual aids such as videos and pictures to help you. Being able to see where your fingers are supposed to be as opposed to looking at a drawing may be more helpful to some people.

Step three.
Learn how to play the basic chords. Once you are happy that you know the basics, move on to the more difficult chords. Don’t push yourself too far too fast. Have a goal in mind, but if you don’t reach that goal it’s OK. Set yourself a new one. Make sure you can play the basic chords with your eyes closed. It’s very important to be comfortable with the note. The more comfortable you are, the easier your chords will flow together.
At first you may have a lot of pain in your fingers. This is normal. Nothing comes without a price to pay right? But once you play for longer, eventually they tips of your fingers will form calluses and you will be able to play your chords without any pain.

Step four.
Keep practicing. If you can bring your guitar to work and practice on your breaks, do so. If you are watching TV, have your guitar in your hand and practice your finger placements. Just keep going. Every day, make time to play. Remember it is supposed to be fun, so have fun with it!

Learning to play and master an instrument is a magical thing. For most people that learn to play the guitar, their dream is to play in front of their friends and family, and for many the dream is even bigger. Playing on the big stage, in front of millions of screaming fans is what it’s all about, but there are several characteristics a lead guitarist needs to be able to accomplish this goal.

First of all understanding the role of a lead guitarist is a major key in actually becoming the lead. The lead guitarist is a major role in deciding songs the band will play. Along with the lead vocalist, the lead guitarist is also a huge role in the energy that is portrayed on stage. Being able to keep the attention of the crowd is very important.

Knowing what type of music you can play is important. If you are a blues type of player, then there is no point in trying out for a heavy metal band, and vice-versa. Feeling comfortable on stage and with the music you are playing is one of the main characteristics a lead guitarist needs.

Below are listed 5 key points that will help you on your way to becoming a lead guitarist:

Know what you want from you experience.
Having a clear goal in mind of where you want to be is a great place to start. Knowing where you want your journey to take you is a great characteristic to have.

Have the right attitude.
Knowing what you want and how you will get it is great, but keeping that positive attitude once you are on stage is another thing. Remember they are there to see you and the band. Don’t let the crowed take advantage of you and you will be great.

Practice.
Just because you are in a band now, doesn’t mean you don’t have to practice. You will never know everything, so it can never hurt to keep learning new skills.

Skill.
There are so many things that can make your performance on stage that much more amazing to watch. Think of all the stand out lead guitarists. Do they just stand on stage and strum their guitar? They are up there giving the crowed a great show each and every time. That’s what will make you stand out from the rest!

Respect and discipline.
When you decide to join a band, you have to remember there are usually 3 or 4 (and sometimes even more) other members of that band. You have to learn how to respect the decisions and opinions of others in the band. Working with others can sometimes be a challenge. Find people you are comfortable working with.

So as you can see there are many characteristics a lead guitarist needs in order to be a successful player. But the success does not lie only in the lead guitarist. No matter how good you are, if you are in a band that has no chemistry together, then no one will want to come listen to you. Take your time and find the right group of people to play with. You may end up joining a few different bands before you find the one you are happy in, but its great practice and will pay off in the end!

There are many challenges that we are faced with in life, and if you are left handed you probably have faced many more than the right handed people in the world. If you are wanting to learn to play the guitar, but are feeling discouraged because the majority of guitars and guitarists are right handed, don’t worry. Here are some helpful tips for left-handers.

Being left handed does not mean you will not be as good as a right handed player. Yes, you will have more decisions and challenges when it comes to learning, but there are many, many famous musicians that have played left handed such as Curt Cobain, Paul McCartney and Jimi Hendrix to name just a few. Just imagine the great music the world would have missed out on if these musicians had given up because they are/were left handed!

Learn to Play Guitar: Helpful Tips for Left-handers. Below here are some outlined tips that can help you begin.

• The very first decision you will have to make is exactly what style of guitar you want to learn on. There are basically two different styles of guitar to choose from. Acoustic or electric. Once you have decided this, you will then be faced with the decision of how you want to learn. For a left handed player there are a couple of different options.

The first is to purchase a left handed guitar. These are specifically designed for lefties.

The next option is to buy a right handed guitar and re-string it to be left handed. This option is OK but can cause a couple of problems to arise, such as volume knobs on the top of the body and not being able to restring it without having to move the keys on the head of the guitar.

The last option is to play the right handed guitar upside down. This is a good option if you are willing to really take the time to do it correctly You will have to reverse all the tabs and chords, but if you are willing to take the time to learn that way, it’s a great option.

• If you are planning on taking actual lessons from an instructor, you may want to search around to see if there are any left handed instructors in your area. Learning to play left handed while watching a right handed player can be very difficult for some people.

• When buying your guitar, whichever style you choose, make sure you buy from someone that has a good reputation. Buying your first guitar online can be really tricky, especially for a left handed player, so you may want to find a music store in your area. That way you can actually sit down and try out the guitar before you buy it.

• Have confidence in yourself. Make sure you don’t get frustrated and give up on yourself easily. Remember you are just beginning and you will be able to play as well as you want to, if you give yourself time to learn. Set time aside each week to practice. Be religious about it. Having discipline will get you to your end goal quicker.

So you see, there are many things to keep in mind when you are learning to play the guitar left handed. Find someone that you can play to so they can see your progress. If you have someone that knows how to play the guitar weather they are left handed or right, you may benefit from playing to them. Having an experienced player listening to you play can help you as they can tell you if the chords are in key and help you with strumming patterns.

Although the majority of the world population is actually right handed, there are many famous musicians that have been left handed. There are many things that a left handed person may not be able to do as well as a right handed person, playing the guitar is definitely not one of those things, especially if you have the determination. Here are a few pointers on how to learn how to play the guitar even if you’re left handed.

I’m not saying it’s going to be a walk in the park for you (although for some musically gifted people, playing the guitar comes very naturally), but it is definitely not impossible. Being a left handed guitarist you will have a few more decisions to make than a right handed guitarist. But don’t get discouraged. Jimi Hendrix, Curt Cobain, Paul McCartney and many more phenomenal players were all left handed!

If you are just starting out learning the guitar then you should be aware of the options available to you as a left handed guitarist. You can buy a guitar that is made for left handed player. You can play a right handed guitar and restring it so you can play left handed, or another option is to leave the guitar strung for a right handed player and play it upside down! If you decide to play an electric guitar, flipping your guitar and playing upside down may not be the best option. The volume knobs on an electric would then be at the top of the body and you may accidentally hit them or turn them while you are playing.

If you decide to restring a right handed guitar just know that there are some complications that might arise from doing so. The right handed guitar is obviously made that way for a reason. The keys at the top of the guitar (depending on the make of guitar) may not fit the thicker strings through the smaller keys. Also the bridge on some guitars is made to slant so may cause your sound to not be quite what it should be.

Make sure that when you go to purchase your guitar you know exactly what you are going to get, whether it be a left handed guitar, or a restrung right handed, or just a regular right handed if you feel you can play it upside down. Ask the employees in the store for help in which will be the best option for you.

Once you have your guitar of choice you must then practice the basic chords and strumming technique. Get yourself some books or go online and find informational sites that will help you to learn your chords. You can search specifically for sites that are for left handed players. This will help you if there are visual aids such as pictures, diagrams and videos. Being able to see how a left handed player places their fingers and changes chords will be a great benefit.

Just remember you are not the first person that wanted to learn guitar that is left handed. Research online the famous people mentioned before and read their stories. Get yourself inspired and motivated to do it too. It’s not easy for anyone, left or right handed, but if you have the determination and motivation to want to learn to play you can do it. Keep practicing and you will go far!

If you have been wanting to find an easy way to teach yourself Classical guitar then look no further. There are three basic things you need to be able to Learn to Play Classical Guitar on DVD and those three things are a guitar, a DVD player and a DVD that will teach you! Along with these key components is also the determination and patience to learn.

The classical guitar dates way back to the 1600′s and is a beautiful instrument. If you want to learn to play this type of guitar you will need a DVD that is specifically made for classical guitars. Many say that the classical guitar is only played by masters, but with enough practice and discipline, you too will be able to master this guitar.

When you are researching which particular DVD to buy in order to begin your lessons you need to first know what level you are starting at. If you have never played guitar before make sure you get a DVD that is specifically for beginners. If you have played a little and know a few chords you may want intermediate lessons and of course there are DVD’s that are for advanced players.

There are several methods to help you find the right DVD to use. Most music store will have a selection of instructional DVD’s for sale to choose from. Ask the employees at the store which has been the best seller or which they have had any feedback about. You can also purchase DVD’s online. Buying them online is a good option if you buy them from a site that has customer reviews. You will be able to see exactly how satisfied the customers are that have bought them.

Another factor that most people don’t think about when they make the decision to play classical guitar is that it will benefit your guitar playing if you grow out your finger nails on your strumming hand. Although this is not a deal-breaker, it definitely helps you to get the “classical” sound. You can pluck the strings with your finger tips, but you will not get the same bright sound you would from having a neatly manicured hand.

Once you have your guitar, DVD and a couple of hours to dedicate to learning, find yourself a quiet, comfortable place to play. Make sure you will be able to concentrate on the lesson fully. Having distractions will only make your journey harder.

So you see there are only a few requirements that you really need to learn to play classical guitar on DVD. The most important thing for you to remember is that it will take a lot of time and patience. First make sure that you choose a DVD that will keep you interested. If you are not enjoying your lessons, chances are you will give up quickly. Next, make sure you follow all the instructions carefully. Set yourself a goal and make a plan to stick to it. But keep your plan realistic. If you have never played the guitar before, chances are you’re not going to be playing on stage to hundreds of people in a couple of months!

There are different levels of skill when knowing how to play an instrument. You either can play well, or you are a master at your craft. There are many advantages of learning to master a guitar rather than just learning to play it. Having people stop in their tracks when you are playing just to listen, or having them wanting more when your song is over are good indications that you are becoming a master at playing a guitar.

Along with the self-satisfaction of learning to play the guitar, some of the advantages of learning to master a guitar are as follows:

1.	When it comes down to the actual physical side of your playing it’s not only your fingers and hands that are working. Mastering the guitar requires hand, eye and brain coordination. While you are playing your guitar, your brain is learning the placement of your fingers for each note, and the more you play, the easier your brain can remember those positions.

2.	Self-gratification is a major advantage of learning to master a guitar. Knowing that you are capable of such a great skill is a magnificent self-esteem boost. Once you have this skill and have mastered it to the best of your ability, you will feel nothing but pride, and want to share your new talent with your friend, family and anyone else who you can convince to listen to you.

3.	Being the master of any instrument is something to be proud of, but the advantage of the guitar is that this is an instrument that you can bring with you anywhere you go. It’s not quite so easy to bring along your drum set to the campfire parties!

4.	Once you have mastered the guitar you will find that it is an instrument that you can actually make money from. Weather it be by joining a band that can get regular gigs around your area, or if you prefer to be a solo artist, many great musicians have made money playing on the streets. There are many options with this “portable” instrument.

5.	You will be the life of the party. What better way to entertain your guests than to have a musically talented friend bring over their guitar and play a few tunes. If you are lacking in other areas of your life, you can make up for them once you can play the guitar. Everyone loves a musician, especially one that is amazing at what they play.

Listed above are just a few of the advantages of mastering a guitar. There are so many more that the list would go on and on. Knowing that you are able to play such a beautiful instrument that will bring so much happiness to others when you play is a great feat. If you are still in the beginning stages of learning to play the guitar, keep your eye on the goal and keep moving forward. The saying couldn’t be truer when it comes to playing the guitar “practice makes perfect”. That’s the only way you will be able to be as good as you aspire to be.

Finding the guitar that will help you show off your own style of music is an important decision. Whether you want to play acoustic guitar, electric guitar, or even the bass guitar the decision has to be one you make for yourself. The best method for choosing the best guitar for learning is to think about the style of music you listen to and want to play on your guitar.

If you are into heavier music then the electric is probably a good guitar for you. If you love to feel the beat of the music pounding your chest, then maybe the bass guitar is a good option for you.

Once you make your decision you will be very happy, but for almost all beginners, the choices are almost overwhelming. A beginners pick is the stepping stone for their musical journey. Here are some pointers to help you in your quest of choosing the best guitar for learning.

1. How do you feel when you are listening to your favorite band? This is how you should feel when you are playing your guitar. The music that influences you is going to be the foundation of which guitar you choose.

2. Before you go looking for your dream guitar, have a budget. You don’t want to go to the music store and find the guitar of your dreams, only to find it has the price tag of your worst nightmares. There are so many different models out there that I have no doubt you will find something you love within your budget. In the case that you come across a guitar that you can’t pass up, ask the store if they have “in-store” credit programs. Some music stores have their own credit solutions for those that cannot pay for the guitar outright. These stores will provide you with a monthly payment plan that you can afford, allowing you to get your dream guitar.

3. Next step is deciding on the features you want your guitar to have. Do you want your guitar to be electric or acoustic? The best thing to do is to weigh the pros and cons for each choice.
Electric and Acoustic pros and cons:

Most think that the electric guitar is much easier to learn on.

You can play the acoustic guitar anywhere. All you need is your guitar.

Acoustic guitars are usually cheaper.

You will need to purchase an amp and chords if you decide on an electric guitar.

Electric guitars are a lot harder to manipulate.

These are just a few of the pros and cons that may help you to decide whether to go with electric or bass.

4. Lastly, try to find someone to go with you to pick out your guitar. A beginners pick is not always the best. Usually the excitement and anxiety of getting your first guitar over-rides your common sense. Having someone there with you (preferably someone that knows a little about playing) will be a great benefit to you.

There are many things that you must know when you are learning to play the guitar.
There are three main elements on learning and mastering a guitar and I will outline
them for you here.

Deciding to play any musical instrument is a great choice and will enhance your
life more than you can imagine. The sense of pride you will feel once you can play
your first song is amazing. And being able to impress your family and friends is
an added bonus.

The first step in learning is to get yourself a guitar you can practice on. You
may want to buy your own, or you can ask anyone you know if they have one you can
borrow. The down side to borrowing a guitar is that you get used to playing that
guitar, then eventually have to give it back. If you can afford to buy a new
guitar, you can find second hand guitars online or at a pawn shop. The great thing
about second hand guitars is that you don’t have to worry about scratching it.
Usually older guitars are already “Weathered” and have the “authentic” look
already.

The next decision you have to make is what style of guitar you want to learn to
play. Do you want electric or acoustic? To decide this, you need to consider the
style of music you want to play on your guitar. Are you into heavy rock music? If
you are then an electric guitar would probably suit your style better. If you are
more into John Meyer then an acoustic would probably be more for you. This is not
always the case, so you can always try both styles to see what you are more
comfortable playing. The one great benefit from playing an acoustic guitar is that
you can bring it with you anywhere you go. You don’t have to plug it in like and
electric, and you don’t need an amp to be able to hear what you are playing.

The final element on learning and mastering the guitar is to find yourself an
audience. If you know someone that can actually play the guitar, then ask them if
you can play to them once or twice a week. Have them critique you. Tell you the
good points of your playing, and also the things you need to work on. Its good to
have someone who has already mastered the guitar as they will be able to see your
mistakes that a “non-guitar player” wont see. But if you don’t know anyone that can
play, ask a friend or someone in your family that you know will be honest with you.

Now you have the main components that will help you while learning the guitar,
next you need to actually start playing. You now have the guitar that you are
going to learn on. Your next step is to make sure you are holding your guitar
correctly. Sitting is the most common position to be in when playing the guitar,
but some may find standing easier. You decide which is best for you. If you are
choosing the sitting position, you will need to rest the body of the guitar on your
leg. Your right hand will be your strumming hand (if you are a right handed
player, and opposite if you are left handed) and your left will the hand that will
move to play the notes. Make sure you have a good posture while playing so you
don’t strain any muscles.

Weather you have decided to learn through books, DVD’s or online courses, make
sure you are following all the steps that are given to you. Don’t skip ahead. They
are written that way for a reason. If you practice you can master the guitar in no
time, just take your time and do it right the first time.

Once you know the basic chords, choose one or two EASY songs that you want to learn
to play. Don’t start off by choosing a hard song. This will only disappoint you
when you have a hard time mastering them. Choose a song that has only a few
chords. Many songs are written with a variation of 3 or 4 basic chords. Start
with these then work your way to more challenging ones.

If you are an OK singer you should practice doing so while you play. This will
assist you in timing and knowing when chord changes are needed.

Never give up. You made the choice to learn to play the guitar and no-one said it
would be easy. Now only you can decide if you are going to follow through on that.
Your fingers will be sore at first, but that’s a sign of determination and great
practice. Eventually they will build up callouses and no longer be painful.

If you follow all these elements on learning and mastering the guitar, in no time
you will be challenging yourself with more and more difficult songs.

Playing a musical instrument can be both therapeutic and rewarding. There is
nothing better than being able to sit down after a hard day and play your favorite
song on your electric guitar. If you don’t already know how, there are several ways
to easily learn to play electric guitar.

The first thing you will need to do is get yourself an Electric guitar and amp.
You can either borrow from a friend or relative, or if you are really serious about
learning to play, you should purchase your own. If you decide to go this route,
make sure you go to a reputable music store. It may be overwhelming when you go
into the music store at first because there are so many different models of
electric guitar available, but don’t be afraid to ask an employee for help. That’s
what they are getting paid for. Pick out the guitar and amp that you are
comfortable with.

You want to make sure that you are familiar with all the switches and buttons on
your electric guitar. Knowing exactly what each one does will enable you to play
your guitar exactly the way you want to. Each button has a different function, but
basically they are all there to adjust the tone of the guitar. Being able to
control these correctly will help you to develop your sound.

Although the electric guitar is thought by many musicians as easier to play than
the acoustic, there are many more added features on the electric that you need to
be familiar with.

Another great thing about actually going to the music store is that you can
actually out the guitar and amp before you purchase them. You can literally try
every guitar in the store if you want until you find one that you love. As you are
just beginning, you don’t need a huge amp. Making sure it has the right features
for the style of music you want to play is important.

Once you have your Guitar, Amp and preferably a pick too (your fingers will get sore
without one, and the sound on an electric guitar is much cleaner if a pick is used)
you are ready for your lessons.

Finding courses and tutorials online is the quickest and probably the cheapest way
to easily learn to play electric guitar (unless you have a professional teaching
you for free). You may decide to take the option of finding a private tutor in
your area, but they can be very costly. You may also be able to find some
resources online that are free if you search around.

Once you have a basic idea of chords and notes, listening to songs with electric
guitar in them will be a big help also. As you are listening to the songs, try to
figure out the chords that are in the songs by playing along with them. This is a
great way to practice.

Now you have the basic idea of how you can easily learn to play electric guitar.
The most valuable lesson I can share with you is this; Don’t quit. When the going
gets tough and your not learning as quickly as you thought you would, keep going.
If you have the right attitude you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Believe in yourself.
