Playing a musical instrument can be both therapeutic and rewarding. There is
nothing better than being able to sit down after a hard day and play your favorite
song on your electric guitar. If you don’t already know how, there are several ways
to easily learn to play electric guitar.

The first thing you will need to do is get yourself an Electric guitar and amp.
You can either borrow from a friend or relative, or if you are really serious about
learning to play, you should purchase your own. If you decide to go this route,
make sure you go to a reputable music store. It may be overwhelming when you go
into the music store at first because there are so many different models of
electric guitar available, but don’t be afraid to ask an employee for help. That’s
what they are getting paid for. Pick out the guitar and amp that you are
comfortable with.

You want to make sure that you are familiar with all the switches and buttons on
your electric guitar. Knowing exactly what each one does will enable you to play
your guitar exactly the way you want to. Each button has a different function, but
basically they are all there to adjust the tone of the guitar. Being able to
control these correctly will help you to develop your sound.

Although the electric guitar is thought by many musicians as easier to play than
the acoustic, there are many more added features on the electric that you need to
be familiar with.

Another great thing about actually going to the music store is that you can
actually out the guitar and amp before you purchase them. You can literally try
every guitar in the store if you want until you find one that you love. As you are
just beginning, you don’t need a huge amp. Making sure it has the right features
for the style of music you want to play is important.

Once you have your Guitar, Amp and preferably a pick too (your fingers will get sore
without one, and the sound on an electric guitar is much cleaner if a pick is used)
you are ready for your lessons.

Finding courses and tutorials online is the quickest and probably the cheapest way
to easily learn to play electric guitar (unless you have a professional teaching
you for free). You may decide to take the option of finding a private tutor in
your area, but they can be very costly. You may also be able to find some
resources online that are free if you search around.

Once you have a basic idea of chords and notes, listening to songs with electric
guitar in them will be a big help also. As you are listening to the songs, try to
figure out the chords that are in the songs by playing along with them. This is a
great way to practice.

Now you have the basic idea of how you can easily learn to play electric guitar.
The most valuable lesson I can share with you is this; Don’t quit. When the going
gets tough and your not learning as quickly as you thought you would, keep going.
If you have the right attitude you can achieve anything you set your mind to.
Believe in yourself.

You may be saying to yourself “I want to learn to play the guitar, and all these
websites keep telling me to play chords, but I don’t even know what a chord is!”
Well let me start off by first explaining what a chord is, then move on to teaching
you an easy way of learning to play the chords.

A chord is a combination of single notes that are played together on the six strings
of your guitar. When you put several chords together, you produce a melody. On a
guitar, a chord can be made up of one single note on one string or several put
together on two or more of the strings, and strummed or plucked at the same time.

There are 5 basic chords that almost every guitarist started out learning. C,A,G,E
and D. Learning to play the chords listed here is a great place for you to start
too. Mastering these five chords will enable you to play the harder chords down
the road with greater ease. You can find out how these chords are formed online or
from a chord chart that you can purchase from any music store.

Once you have your chord chart, knowing how to actually read it is the next step.
Its not as hard as it looks. The Chord chart is instructions in picture form
teaching you exactly where to put your fingers on the fret board. Think of your
guitar in the upright position. This is how you will be reading the chord chart.
The top line is the very top of your guitar. The lines going down are your 6
strings, left to right (or top to bottom if you were holding your guitar in the
position of playing). The dots on the strings represent the string and fret where
you need to place your finger. For example, when you play A major, you will need 3
fingers. They are all placed on the second fret on the third, fourth and fifth
strings (D,G, and B string). Now you have your fingers in the right place, strum!

In the beginning it is really hard to play for long periods of time. This is
because the tips of your fingers get very sore. Don’t worry because this happens
to all beginners. If you are playing your chords correctly you will be pressing
with the tips of your fingers, and this can be painful after a short time of
practice. Keep going though. Eventually you will build up callouses on your
finger tips that will enable you to play for greater lengths without any pain!
Hang in there!

If you are hearing a buzzing sound from your strings when you strum and are having
trouble making your chords sound clean, there are a few things that you may need to
improve on. The first is to check the length of your finger nails. If they are
too long, you wont be able to press the tips of your fingers down hard enough on
the string.

Another thing to be aware of when you are playing is to make sure that you use the
very tip of your finger. If you play with your finger laying on the string, there
is a chance you may hit other strings. This will mute the other strings and make
the chord not sound correct. This is one of the hardest things to do when you
first start playing the guitar.

Make sure you are pressing the strings down firmly. Once you have your fingers in
the correct position, strum all the strings at the same time. You are now playing
a chord!

The last thing which is equally as important as the others, is to give yourself
time. You will not be an expert in a day, so stay focused, keep practicing, and
learning to play the chords will get easier every day.

An acoustic guitar is such a beautiful sounding instrument and there are so many people that want to learn to play the guitar, but so many get discouraged because of many reasons. But fear not, because there are various ways to learn how to play and acoustic guitar. Don’t let blistered fingers discourage you!

Before we start, you need to have an acoustic guitar. If you don’t have your own, ask people you know if they have one you can borrow for a while. You may also use a pick, but if you don’t have one you can strum with your fingers. Using a pick is not as rough on your fingers, so might help you to be able to practice for longer if you use one.

The first step when learning to play an acoustic guitar is to make sure it is tuned correctly. If you don’t know how to tune your guitar either find someone who can, or you can purchase tuners at a music store.

Next is finding a resource that is suitable for you to teach you. There are various ways to learn how to play an acoustic guitar and finding the right method to teach you is key. You can get private lessons, ask a friend or relative that knows how to play to teach you, get books or go online. Learning online is an endless fountain of knowledge. You can get free information, or paid depending on what you are looking for. There are ebooks, tutorials, videos and many more ways online that can help you.

Now you must find a place you are comfortable in to play. Weather you are sitting or standing, your guitar must be supported. If you are sitting you can support it on your leg and if you are standing, you will need a strap to hold it up. For right handed players, you will need to place your left hand on the neck of the guitar over the frets, and your right hand will be on the strings over the sound hole.

Along with your hands, your ears are an important part of your body when it comes to playing the acoustic guitar. Listening to the music your guitar creates helps you not only keep in time, but also lets you know if you are in tune. It’s also important to use your eyes to be able to see where you are placing your fingers and read the chords, but for the blind they don’t have that option, yet many blind people can play the guitar beautifully. And you know why? Because they use their ears! I can’t stress how important it is to listen to the music you are playing.

The beautiful thing about the acoustic guitar is that it doesn’t need and amplifier to be heard. It is a whole instrument in itself. All it needs is someone to play it!

If you feel like you are getting nowhere with your guitar learning, start over. Go back to the basics. Memorize the basic chords until you know them with your eyes closed. There are a few chords that are used as building blocks for many songs and they are C, A, G, E, and D. You can find out how to play these notes free online if you don’t already know them.

And lastly, after considering all the various ways to learn how to play an acoustic guitar, keep on practicing. You have come this far. Don’t give up now. Everyone had to start somewhere. Just think you can only get better from here. But the main thing is to have fun while you’re learning!

It is thought that learning to play a new instrument is very difficult and the electric guitar is one of those “hard to learn” instruments, but if you are given the right tools and techniques, you can Learn to play the Electric Guitar in minutes. So get ready to learn some interesting facts that will help you achieve your goal.

First, you must not be intimidated by the thought of playing the electric guitar. It is a good idea to take the time and learn all that you can about the guitar and its fret board. To aide you with this task you can buy a diagram of the notes and strings on a guitar. Having this on the wall while you are practicing will help you tremendously.

Learning the positioning of the notes on the fret board is key, and this is accomplished by practice, practice, practice. Don’t expect this to come over night. And don’t spend hours a day studying this. Instead spend approximately 10 minutes per day on this task. Success for most beginners is gained from the knowledge of the notes and fret board.

Another major factor in learning to play the electric guitar is using your ears. You must listen to the pitch and tone of the notes you are playing. This requires much concentration, and is a very important part of learning. First play the note on your electric guitar, then sing the note in the same key you just played. Repeat this several times with different notes. Once this is easy for you, do it in reverse. Sing a note, then play it on the guitar. Hearing if the note you sang, and the note you played are the same is where ear training comes in. Practicing this for about 10 minutes a day will help immensely.

And lastly, do some chromatic guitar exercises and scales. These will help you develop muscle memory and help your fingers move more cleanly across the strings, developing a cleaner sound. Start off with simple ones and as you feel more confident, move on to harder ones.

These are three major components that will assist you when you begin your lessons. If you practice these three tips before you begin with actual guitar lessons, your journey will be much simpler.

Patience is a major factor in learning the electric guitar. If you can devote 30 minutes a day to practicing these techniques, you will go very far, very quickly. An essential part of the learning process is to make sure you are having fun. If it’s not fun, then you won’t learn. It will feel too much like work and not play!

You will have to dedicate a lot of your time practicing these skills I have mentioned if you want to be able to play “like the pro’s”, but believe me it will be worth it in the end. Just think how you will feel when you “WOW” your family and friends the first time you play your favorite song for them on the guitar!

Not many people know that at the root of all songs is the Bass Guitar. If you listen to a song and pay very close attention, you will hear that the bass gives the song life and soul. Learning to play the Bass guitar is something that many have mastered, and it is a beautiful instrument if played well. Once you learn how to play bass guitar you will not be disappointed.

For the most part, when an individual is interested in learning how to play a song, they are drawn to the electric or acoustic guitar. This is due to the fact that hearing someone that is educated on an acoustic or electric guitar play can be beautiful. But when listening deeper into the song you can feel the power of the Bass guitar. When you hear a song and there is no Bass line, you can tell there is something missing, almost like the heartbeat of the song.

When looking at a Bass guitar, the noticeable difference is that there are usually only 4 strings and also the strings on a Bass are much thicker than that of an electric or acoustic guitar. Also the body of a Bass guitar is usually bigger. Bass guitars are made from many different types of wood depending on the year they were made, and the model of the guitar.

Once you learn how to play Bass Guitar you will see that for the most part there are no chords involved as in the tradition guitar method of playing. The notes are usually single string notes played constantly throughout the song. This gives the rest of the band timing and helps the band to stay together. If chords were played on a bass, it would overpower the rest of the instruments.

There are several things to keep in mind when you have made the decision to learn how to play bass guitar.

* The beat of the song is important. The bass, along with the drums, are the root of the song and being in touch with the beat of the song makes for a good Bass player. The band can only stay in time if the Bass and Drums are in time too.

* Bass guitars are tuned the same way as a standard guitar, but on a bass, the tone of the note is much deeper. This is due to the fact that the stings on the Bass are much thicker, producing a deeper sound. Knowing how to tune a regular guitar will essentially help you in tuning a bass.

* There are frets along the neck of the bass as there are on a standard guitar. Placing your fingers in the correct position on the strings and frets is essential, and knowing where the notes are along the neck is important.

* Having strong fingers is not essential, but definitely helps. The strings on the bass are very think and heavy and having good hand strength helps to make the notes more crisp and clear.

Keeping these things in mind when you learn how to play the Bass guitar will definitely benefit you. There are several methods of learning the bass guitar. You can go to private lessons; teach yourself from books, from DVD’s and other methods. These tips will aid you in which ever method you decide to use.

So what are you waiting for? Practice makes perfect, so don’t waste any more time. Pick yourself out a Bass and get going.
